NCISC STUDENT ART DISPLAY
The North Cook Intermediate Service Center (NCISC) / Regional Office of Education #5 is looking for student artwork to adorn the interior walls of its office.* We want to highlight our North Cook districts and students through the joy of the visual arts! Themes of the entries should center around PEACE, HOPE and/or POSITIVITY. Final art pieces will be representative of elementary, middle, and high school students of the North Cook region. Selected pieces will be framed by NCISC and a name tag will identify the student artist’s name, school and district.
*Chosen art pieces may also be used on our website, newsletter, promotions and/or social media by NCISC if a Release Form is on file at the school or district.
Timeline / Key Dates:
- December 2, 2022 Finished art due to NCISC (digital image of the artwork)
- December 15, 2022 NCISC staff select artwork
- February 8, 2023 Art Walk-Through & Reception
Submit a digital image of ONE finished art piece for consideration from your district to NCISC by Friday, December 2, 2022. Your district art teacher/representative has the responsibility to choose one piece to submit to NCISC. At this time, only a digital image is required for review.
Final art pieces will be chosen by the NCISC staff and a notice will be sent to the district contact person after the winter break. If one of the final art pieces chosen is by a student in your district, the original artwork can be 1) delivered to the NCISC office by a district representative or 2) an NCISC staff member can pick up the art from your district. Artwork will be hung at the NCISC office in Des Plaines.
An Art Walk-Through will be held at NCISC on February 8, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. for students of the chosen pieces. Students, immediate family members, and any supporting district staff members (i.e. teacher, art teacher, principal, superintendent, etc.) are welcome to attend. This will be an informal and casual walk around our small office to view the art and enjoy light refreshments.

PEACE, HOPE and/or POSITIVITY
How to Determine a District Art Finalist:
Districts or schools may choose to conduct a student art contest on their own to boost students’ interest and spirit, or an art teacher/department chair/staff member may select one final art piece from the district to be sent to NCISC. However, the NCISC Art Rubric must be applied and shared along with the digital art submission.
How to Determine Display Pieces by NCISC:
Final art pieces will be selected by non-professional art critics from NCISC staff based on the NCISC Art Rubric adapted from the National Core Art Standards for Visual Arts. We reserve the right to refuse any submission if deemed inappropriate or offensive for an educational setting. Totality of artwork selected will represent North Cook K-12 schools, as well as NCYAA, NSSED, NSSEO, and NTDSE depending on the size of finished pieces, and will be displayed on the walls at the NCISC office.
Final artwork and artists may be announced via email, social media, North Cook ISC newsletter and/or website if a Release Form is on file at the school/district. An evening Art Walk-Through will be held at NCISC for the students of the chosen pieces, their immediate family members, and any supporting district staff member. This will be an informal and casual walk around our small office to view the art and enjoy light refreshments.
Artists of the final pieces displayed at the NCISC office will be given an official NCISC certificate to be presented to them at the February 8th NCISC Art Walk-Through or sent to the artists’ home school.
