Not for athletic directors only!! The thin line, so often breached, between conflict and competition makes this workshop a great learning opportunity for leaders in all positions. Athletic Directors work with many sports, coaches and other staff, parents, the larger community and colleagues. This all happens in an environment of heightened emotion, requiring a high level of skill in managing conflict. The models presented merit consideration in variety of roles and settings.

Program:		The passion, excitement, and competition of interscholastic athletics can be the perfect breeding ground for conflict. Behaviors that have a negative impact on athletes, programs and communities may include anger displays as well as behaviors that are effusive, disruptive, obstinate, rigid, sarcastic, and /or condescending. Backbiters and second guessers are an equally destructive part of this picture. This Academy will help administrators, others involved in interscholastic athletics as well as leaders in many other settings, gain a better understanding of what causes individuals to behave in challenging ways. The workshop will help you discover new and better ways to prevent, manage, and/or transform such behavior so effectively that the focus remains on the development of young people in positive, productive settings.
