Improving Your School Security Program (ISBE #417)

Vandalism, bullying, threats of violence, terrorism warnings and more challenge school leaders to effectively address these issues without allowing their organizations to take on the appearance and budget of a maximum-security facility. This course presents a cooperative and comprehensive approach to school safety and security, supporting the participants’ creation of a school safely committee, the use of outside resources and building community involvement.

Program:		In this Academy, participants will: Learn how to utilize a school safety committee and how to implement specific prevention strategies including security plan development, soliciting stakeholder involvement, visitor management practices, and maintaining staff security awareness Access vital outside and community resources to improve their security programs Learn how to improve their emergency preparedness and crisis management program Paul Timm, presenter, is Vice President of RETA Security, Inc. and a recognized expert in school security. In addition to his frequent speaking engagements at schools, conferences and seminars nationwide, Paul serves on the advisory panel of the National Crime Prevention Council’s Be Safe and Sound Initiative.
