School District Leadership that Works: Striking the Right Balance (ISBE #579)

In this day and age, every aspect of a school district must be seen as a valued and contributing resource of the organization. In the past, critics have asserted that American public education is burdened by a bloated, local, organizational bureaucracy that soaks up resources outside of the classroom and does not contribute to student learning. This course will emphasize the value-added by district and school level administrators and the benefits they bring to student achievement in their learning organizations.

Program:		Tim Waters, McREL’s CEO and co-author, with Bob Marzano, of School Leadership That Works: From Research to Results (2005), and District Leadership that Works: Striking the Right Balance (2009), will share findings from Mc REL’s research. He will also provide guidance on the use of these findings to optimize the value that superintendents and other school district administrators add to their instructional program. This data - driven session will highlight the impact that effective administration has on student achievement. Each participant will receive comprehensive materials that will foster the understanding of the concepts presented. This course is designed for district and school level teams as well as for individual administrators.
