Site Director
Qualifications
Applicants for the position of Site Director should have a relevant Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Preference will be given to candidates with supervisory experience and who possess special competencies which will enhance the quality of the North Cook Young Adult Academy program. These specialized competencies may include multiple Illinois State teaching certification, and/or experience working in innovative programs with a proven record of success.
Reports to:
The Site Director reports to the Associate Director.
Responsibilities:
The Site Director will:
- in concert with the Referral/Intake Coordinator, complete the intake and orientation process for all new students and their parents.
- participate in IOEP meetings: coordinate and record the assessment of students’ progress on their IOEP goals.
- coordinate and supervise the provision of instruction and support services.
- for each student, ensure that the following documents are on file and current
- complete transcript of credits from the home school.
- “grades to date” and courses in progress for students who transferred during a semester.
- official record of graduation requirements from the home school.
- official list of graduation requirements the student has yet to complete.
- list of courses in which the student is currently enrolled, with course titles consistent with those of the home school district.
- work with the Deputy Director to finalize quarter and semester grades within one week of the end of each school term.
- maintain up-to-date and accurate enrollment and attendance data for all students: submit the required ADA report to the Deputy Director on the last school day of each month.
- be proactive in securing parental involvement both with their student and with the North Cook Young Adult Academy program.
- collaborate with public and private community agencies, as necessary, on behalf of students.
- in cooperation with the school districts, arrange for efficient, cost effective transportation services for students who are eligible for, and require, transportation.
- liaison with school districts on behalf of individual students, as necessary.
- work with the Deputy Director to collect all necessary data for reporting purposes.
- ensure the integrity of a quality curriculum, appropriate to the needs of each student and in alignment with the requirements of the home school district and the ISBE Illinois Learning Standards.
- ensure the integrity of the provision of support services appropriate to the needs of each student and consistent with the prescription outlined in each student’s Individualized Optional Education Program.
- with respect to the employment, evaluation, and retention of personnel; screen candidates for employment, organize and chair the committee to interview candidates, formally evaluate staff, and communicate all recommendations for employment, retention, and release to the Associate Director.
- supervise instructional and support staff.
- encourage and support creative plans and options for meeting students’ needs.
- effectively and efficiently manage the daily operation of the program site.
- to ensure a collaborative effort, establish and maintain a regular program meeting schedule for both student-based and operational items.
- plan and implement professional training opportunities for staff, as needed.
- on request, prepare school improvement plans, budget recommendations, staffing plans, grant amendments, and other reports for the Deputy Director, Associate Director, and the NCISC Executive Director.
- actively participate in Site Directors’ meetings.
- work with the Associate Director to explore resource development and funding options.
- actively participate in Inservice and Institute day meetings.
- seek out and participate in professional development activities to enhance competency related to the performance of assigned duties.
- fully and consistently adhere to all policies and procedures delineated in the North Cook Young Adult Academy Policy Manual and the NCISC Policy Manual.
- fulfill other responsibilities, as assigned by the Deputy Director, Program Director, or the NCISC Executive Director.
Compensation and Terms of Employment:
Compensation for the position of Site Director is individually established annually by the NCISC Governing Board. The position of site director is an “at will” position and subject to annual evaluation and employment.
Evaluation:
The Site Director is evaluated annually by the Associate Director.
